I chose Canon because it was cheaper than Nikon. Hands down. Haha. That being said, I love my Canon to death, however, I am not against Nikon at all and I am sure that one of these days I will own a Nikon and a Canon. Just because. Haha.

@Nicole - I emailed you regarding your Canon gear. :)

The first SLR I played with was a Canon 350D belonging to my best friend, and I spent some time on holiday with it.

When it was time to get my own I did the usual 6 months of consuming EVERYTHING the web had to offer (specially Ken Rockwell) and the conclusion I came to was made based on a comment on lenses I read: Canon has a very wide divide between the quality of amateur and pro lenses, the kit lenses are cheap (and often nasty) and you will have to live with them till you can afford the good stuff. Nikon all lenses are the same high quality - some are just faster, longer, wider, etc than others.

When I picked up that D40x (then D60 then D90) for the first time I knew I had made the right choice - buttons and menu's are just so intuitive. My friends Canon 20D still confuses the hell out of me every time.

Well done Nicole on making the jump - Changing brands is a seriously expensive breakup. Just upgrading an 18-55VR and 55-200VR to the (ultimately magnificent) 18-200VR2 cost me almost $800 extra (we get pillaged on camera stuff in South Africa).

May your love inspire others to fall deeply too :)
